The five priority setting frameworks in making clinical decisions are as follows:
- ABC's- this framework includes Airways(A), Breathing(B), Circulation(C), and differential diagnosis(D). These are first checked in the patients with emergency situations such as road accident.
- Acute verses chronic- acute and chronic cases are dealt according to the severity and this framework enables the physician to prioritize the type of care and medications needed for the patient . For example the medications for chronic conditions lasts longer as compared to that of acute conditions. Emergent needs care first as they have life- threatening injuries, they are included in class 1 and routine are patients with non urgent injuries which can be treated easily.
- Maslow's hierarchy of needs- this contains all the essential framework for the need of patient which are safety, security, physiological , love and belongings, self-esteem and self- actualisation.
- Nursing process- assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation are the essential components to know about the patient's area of concern and his/her better satisfaction by the evaluation.
- Safety and risk education- by keeping all the essential for the safe environment for the patient.
