The teacher must, therefore, follow the following steps to develop an effective inquiry-based science lesson:
a) Hook. The lesson should be introduced by developing a table or chart that helps in hooking the learner's attention. In this step, students are exposed to the main topic.
b) Focus. In focus step, students are aware of what is needed from them. The teacher encourages the students to provide topics and main questions they find intriguing. This reduces the teacher's roles from those of an instructor to those of a facilitator. From the question, students get a chance to brainstorm further questions and ideas.
c) Teacher Conference and Refining Research. This focuses on the teacher meeting with individual students to look at their focus questions. Face to face meeting allows the teacher to meet and discuss additional issues with the student.
d) Peer Conference. This step allows different students within the same group to share their divergent ideas and questions concerning their questions. However, the teacher must guide the students. Also, the teacher helps in explaining complex questions and ideas as the lesson ends.
