The TRIP Model. The Trip model analyses the topical, relational and identity issues in conflict management.

Topical issues relate to what each party wants, in this case what Xo and Rogelio want from each other I.e. they want the other to clean the dishes.

Relational goals will enable them understand what they are to each other. This will also address what goals their relationship has. When they realize that they will always be friends, siblings, etc. they will then understand how unwashed dishes affect their relationship. Then, they can decide whether unwashed dishes should construct ,establish or disestablish their relationship.

Identity issues are concerned with face value each of them will leave on each other. In other words, the impression they want of each other. If they both want to create the identity of good friends, siblings etc., then they will examine to which extent they need the identity. They will then be able to understand what compromises to make, what impresses them, how unwashed dishes affect their identities and ultimately, they will understand their situation more.
