Explain the governmental roles in health policy.

 

By improving health services and creating human and financial capital, governments, through health ministries and other relevant ministries and agencies, play a significant role in health policy.

It helps health services to meet health-impairing targets, to reduce health inequalities, to secure equality in funding healthcare, and to respond to the needs of the community without eroding the social position of government policy 

reforms aim to respond to emerging developments and challenges. 

Endeavors are being made to improve multiple roles of the health system with a distinctive emphasis on administration, funding, and implementation of care. (World Health Organization, 2006). 

Ministries of health are responsible for leading health development through the implementation and improvement of health system policies, including leadership and governance, biomedical technology, human resources for health, and health care financing. Ministries of health oversee the overall deployments of health system using the governance function, which include policy analysis and formulation, regulating service delivery between partners, developing norms and standards for quality assurance, and ensuring the implementation of policies and strategies (World Health Organization, 2006). 

The supply of essential drugs and vaccines is the responsibility of governments through the ministries of health. Governments are now active in delivering healthcare care at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of the health system. The government's role in the distribution of resources leads to rising equity in access to health care. The role of government in health policy is well known internationally and is illustrated by the remarkable progress of government-initiated and funded health systems.
