We have different denominators so we have to find a relationship with same scale. The denominator that fits both is a scale of 6, therefore we scale each fraction until we have denominator 6. This implies that
2/3 = 4/6
1/2 = 3/6
We graph the new fractions as shown in the figure on the right hand side. As we can see they have the same scale. Now it only remains to subtract the number of frames needed (4-3 = 1). Then there will only be a painted picture of six left.
Thus
2 / 3-1 / 2 = 1/6
