Essay 2 – Topic Proposal Questions

The film I have chosen is Freedom Writers. I have chosen this movie because I enjoy seeing the teacher trying to make a change even though she is under harsh circumstances.

In my evaluation of the movie, it is both positive and negative. I say it is positive because the teacher is trying to make a change at a school who does not care or believe in the students or their future. She actually cares about her students outside of school and she continuously shows that in numerous ways. I say it is negative because majority of the students in the classroom have such a negative attitude. Some of them are racist, and have dealt with so much trauma in their life.

The aspects I will focus on in my essay is how the teacher was given every reason to not pursue this job because of things she was told and seen but she continued to do so.

In body paragraph one I will focus on the introduction, explaining what the essay will be about.

In body paragraph number two I will focus on how the teacher was so timid as she first starting teaching her students; she allowed them to talk to and treat her any kind of way until she was fed up.

In body paragraph number three I will be talking about I will talk about how the teacher gave each one of her student’s notebooks in order for them to express themselves and allow her to respond to them as well.

In body paragraph number four I will be talking about how the students began to make a drastic positive change. Everyone who doubted the teacher including the students were in such shock. I will focus on how people at the school (the principal, and other teachers) tried to have the teacher removed from doing certain activities with her students and teaching certain grade levels.

Based on the movie Freedom Writers, anyone who enjoys helping and getting to know others would enjoy this movie; as the plot demonstrates strength, hardships, tolerance and self-worth.
