What is AT&T's corporate strategy? In their 10K report AT&T had truly 3 distinct segments being communications, Warner Media, and Xandr. You must identify and explain all types of diversification from the perspective of the primary industry. We know by looking at the 10K report that communications make up 77% of the operating profits so therefore it would be AT&T's primary market. Trying to understand how to determine the corporate strategy is where I get stuck. I understand that we have to look at the value chain and the communications segments primary activity. There are 4 basic primary activities in the value chain Inputs of Research & Development and Production then Outputs Marketing & Sales and Customer Service. Where would each of communications, WarnerMedia, and Xandr fall in the value chain. In regards to the primary activities would this be considered related on unrelated diversification? Would this be Vertical or Horizontal Integration?

How did the Time Warner acquisition affect AT&T's corporate strategy (i.e., what type of diversification does this deal represent)? My basic question here is with 3 distinct industries does Time Warner's merger make AT&T's corporate strategy an unrelated horizontal integration, conglomerate diversification or would it be related, vertical, or horizontal. I guess if I could have an answer to the first question, if would better help me understand the second. It would really help if I understood the vertical vs. horizontal integration.
