Trouton's rule states that entropy of vaporization should be constant i.e. about 85-88 J mol-1K-1
In the above problem, o-xylene, ethylbenzene, nonane and chlorofom obey trouton's rule as they have the entropy of vaporization 86.80, 86.92, 87.70 and 87.49 J mol-1K-1 respectively
[ I used the formula: delta Svap = Delta Hvap (J/mol) / Tbp (K)]
For n-propanol and ammonia the values are 111.93 and 97.45 J mol-1K-1 . So, these liquids clearly dont obey troutons rule.
