Additionally, there are more than 400 million devices running Windows 10 in 192 countries around the world.
Bill Gates, a recognized philanthropist, established the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000. As of 2016, Bill Gates had donated over $28 billion to the organization. Employees have donated more than $1 billion to over 31,000 charities. In addition to personal contributions, Microsoft also provides millions of dollars in company resources. Each day, the company donates more than $2.6 million in software to more than 86,000 nonprofit groups around the world. Teams of computer scientists, programmers, engineers, and other experts work with scientists and researchers around the world to develop algorithms and computers that can help identify new ways to enhance cancer research and help doctors develop more targeted treatments for the disease.
On an organizational level, Microsoft has been a leader in workplace diversity. Additionally, Microsoft was one of the first companies in the world to provide same-sex domestic partner benefits.
