Explain the differences between desktop and laptop architecture. What features are specific to laptops and laptop displays?
Describe the evolution of laptops into other mobile devices.
There are major differences between desktop and laptop architecture.
Some of the differences are -:
1) Desktop depends on other devices to work such as a mouse, keyboard, CPU, etc so it depends on an external device whereas laptop does not depend on any other external devices. Laptop
can be called an all-in-one computer system.
2) Desktop is comparatively larger in size as compared to laptops so we cannot carry desktop with ourself whereas we can carry laptop with ourself because of small size. So we can say the laptop is
portable and desktop is not
3) Desktop will run on the main power supply only.
A laptop can run on a battery main power supply or Ac supply too.
4) Components of Desktops can be easily removed whereas components of laptop cannot be easily removed so Desktop can
be easily repaired as compared to laptops because of independent
components of desktops
5)External keyboard and mouse are necessary to work in case of
Desktop whereas in case of laptop we can say keyboard and mouse are in-built. However external keyboard and mouse also can be used.
6)Laptops are costly as compared to desktop because all the features in laptops are inbuilt.
Features specific to laptops are portability, Battery savage and
efficient power usage which is not present in desktop.
Laptops are even device-independent so you do not have to
actually, depend on other devices .
Laptops display are just cool features with modern screens and high
resolution of pixels as compared to old laptop screens and they are portable as well can be easily removed and modified into an even better screen if available for that particular size for your laptops.
In case of the desktop whole monitor has to change which is costly feature .
some modern Laptop screen size looks like
Laptop Style Screen Size
Ultraportable 13.3" or less
Thin and Light 14" to 16"
Desktop Replacement 17" to 19"
Luggables 20" and higher
Now the evolution of mobile devices from the laptop is
even a story with a lot of struggles. Laptops are too
big to fit inside any persons pocket so there is a need of
such device which is actually less costly and can fit inside
the pocket of the individual so it leads to the evolution of modern
processors and size of ram devices which can easily fit
inside mobiles and it needs a battery to be alive as well.
So, this device can now perform task like mini-computers
and help a person in navigating calculating and even communicating
through networks.
There are step by step evolution of mobile devices firstly they where
keypad based mobiles then they becomes touch screen and after that, there are further advancement in os and its processors so this is the story of mobiles.
