HIM stands for health information management. It comprises the subdivisions of RHIT (registered health information technicians and the RHIA (registered health information administrators). On the other hand, CTR represents the cancer registry department.

Differences

The differences are attributable to 3 parameters namely; functions, target beneficiaries, and components.

Components-the components s of the HIM contain elements of RHIT which is tailored for the technicians and RHIA which is tailored for administrators whereas the cancer registry contains elements of PBCR which is cancer registry for the general public and EPCR which is for the elite class and prominent personnel like government officials(Moore et al..2018).

Functions-the functions of the HIM and its components are more aligned to supervision services of the health administrators and technicians on their performance and adherence to protocols besides keeping their records while the cancer registry's primary function is just data keeping of the cancer patients' information.

Target beneficiaries -the beneficiaries of the HIM initiative are the medical services providers like the administrators and the technicians while those of the CTR are the consumers of the medical services that are the patients of cancer.

3. Both are created under the ministry of health and special provisions of the constitution for healthcare facilities
4. The management personnel for both initiatives follows a similar hierarchy starting from top executive ones to the junior both ensure uniformity/standardization of the relevant data they record as well as the data models involved

Overlapping of function is attributable to;

1. The kind of data they keep allows for comparison with other facilities of healthcare services by ensuring easier navigation through medical records of the technicians and patients.
2. Their operations can overlap on the basis of the requirement of the ministry of health which may require them to catty out supplementary activities for each other in an effort to bridge gaps in the management of data in the medical field.
3. Planning for evaluation criteria also allows overlapping of activities in the manner performance is evaluated as well as strategic plans to the initiatives
4. The principles, disclosure requirements, and privacy they desire, coding of information, and standards they crave also overlap in the course of service provision.
