There are many who suggest that prisoners have too many rights and amenities like access healthcare which many in the community do not even have. They feel like incarrceration is easy and doesn't serve as a deterrent crime. It had even been suggested that the culture in corrections should support a more difficult pain prison experience where violence accepts the norms

At the correction facilities, the chances of being sexually assaulted are high because they do not get conjugal rights. A normal adult human being will feel the urge to engage in sexual intercourse once in a while. If sexual assaults are not controlled at the facilities, there are high chances of spreading sexually transmitted diseases and HIV & AIDS. The perpetrators will most likely be individuals who have stayed at the facility for a while and want to avenge the new inmates. In the event that the perpetrators were infected with those diseases, they will transmit the diseases to the new inmates, and the cycle will not stop. The fight against HIV & AIDS will never be won if the sexual assaults can not be controlled at the facilities.

Whenever there is violence at the correction facilities, there will always be mass destruction of property. Some of the inmates are serving life sentences, and therefore they fear nothing as there is no punishment bigger than what they are serving can be passed to them. During the violence, they will destroy properties that have taken a lot of taxpayers' money to be bought and installed. Frequent facility violence can affect the economy of a country as the properties destroyed must be repaired no matter the cost if they are essential to learning of the facility. Also, violence at the facility can lead to loss of lives like the 1993 Southern Ohio correction facility, which lasted for eleven days, leaving ten dead, among them a correction officer.

Many inmates will join prison gangs to enable them to get what is required from them through extortion. Extortion can come from the correction officers or fellow inmates. The officers will extort the inmates, especially when the inmates require stuff from outside the facility. The inmates will engage in all illegal activities at the facilities to raise the amount of money the officer requires them to surrender. The engagement in the illegal activities and joining of the prison gang will only complicate the administration of the facility as the officers on duty will always have a case to settle or a case to investigate. The criminal gangs will make the tasks of the officers on duty harder and more complicated as the gangs are not up to any good at any given time
