*A writing assignment will be assigned on July 15th. The paper will be due August 10th. If you are late with the assignment you will be penalized.
You will write about one Amendment of the Constitution.
If the amendment has more than one part, such as the 1st amendment, you will pick one portion of the amendment and write about that. For example , if you use the 1st amendment, you can only write about freedom of religion, or freedom of the press or freedom of speech, or the right to assembly.
You can pick any of the amendments, but only write about one amendment and one part if it has multiple parts. I want you to dig deep about the part you choose.
The amendments are listed in your book on page A21 (in the appendix)

Paper:
One paragraph outlining history of amendment, Amendment meaning, how it helps us. Real life examples of how we benefit from amendment. Example court cases and what was accomplished, how people in other countries live without our rights. Reference your points with solid references.
Grading:
Punctuation – 20% Make sure you avoid run-on sentences
Grammar – 10% Please make sure you use correct wording, spelling
Body of Text – 50% solid facts and references. Please make sure you do not plagiarize . If you need to quote something word for word, do it, but use parenthesis and reference the quote. If you are writing in one voice in one sentence and in another voice in the next, I will deduct points. Last paragraph should be a summary.
References – 20% Make sure you use valid references. No blogs, or anything that is just someone’s opinion. Make sure you cite your references. Not Fox News or CNN.
