Topic: How technology is changing society.
We, the students are faced with more opportunities from kindergarten to college to adopt technology, develop our learning capacity, and reach deeper into the world than previously possible. Although part of me longs for the good old days of device-free days, textbooks and recess, the more rational part of me understands that technology has brought many advantages to the educational scene.
For one, access to knowledge has been significantly improved by technology. There are vast quantities of almost every kind of information that you might be searching for available on the internet today, from books to podcasts, white papers to videos. Got a question? Google it and within seconds, you will have a response (or 10,000).
Via MOOCs, online training programs, college level online degree programs and more, technology has also expanded opportunities for more structured learning.
For several, technology has made learning feasible. Online courses and services make it possible for us learners to gain access from home, the subway, bus or train to our classes. We can connect to the learning world instantly with the right computer and internet availability. Technology has linked individuals across the globe. Throughout the country, students have access to peers. Google docs and other programs allow us to collaborate on projects and promote new communication methods.
Teachers can more easily personalize lessons, instructions, and assignments for each child because of technology. With the right equipment in the classroom, monitoring students' progress and finding problems is even easier. Teachers of all age groups and grade levels are working to integrate technology into their classrooms to increase the involvement of students and expand the learning opportunities offered to students.
Technology has extended to rural areas the scope of quality education. E-Learning makes it possible for students around the country to take classes in their local schools that would not otherwise be open to them and enables those schools to exchange resources and courses online with others from across the state and beyond more easily.
In a nutshell, technology will continue to alter the society through the face of education, enabling people to interact, collaborate and learn from each other from all over the world. I believe that through everything we learn, we are forever changed.
