PEER RESPONSE:

This week I have chosen to go with a piece of art called ''Panel'', created by Henry Holiday between 1886 and 1890. Henry Holiday was a freelance artist designer throughout his life. This piece of art was made in London. This stained-glass art piece was said to be taken from a painting made between 1886 and 1888 from Henry Holiday himself (Museum, n.d.), called ''Aspasia in The Pynx''(V&A · The world’s leading museum of art and design, n.d.). This Stained-glass Art piece was from the Late Victorian period. This art piece represented faith, religion, and Christianity. As seen in the art piece there is a woman who looks to be sitting down looking up at a cross. Made out of a panel of clear and colourless glass, this panel was painted and then yellow stained to preserve the paint. This stained-glass painting shows similarities to the late Victorian period with the amount of importance religion was at the time. Deep rich coloring is used in this art piece as well as texture in the women's pants as it looks to be over layered. These pieces of representational art from the late Victorian period can still be seen today in churches, museums, and important religious buildings.
