For decades and more sharply since the passing of The Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare") our country has been embroiled in a heated debate over our healthcare system. While some support a healthcare system that is based on private health insurance companies (with or without government subsidies), many others argue in favor of a public option, meaning that people could choose to join a healthcare program that is run by the government or to remain in their private healthcare plan. Recently, progressive democratic politicians such as Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have presented a third option by calling for the creation of a mandatory single payer program which would likely eliminate private health insurance and incorporate the entire population into a government run healthcare program, as is the case in most other wealthy countries. Which type of system is best suited for our nation's needs? What can we learn for the experiences of other countries? What are the pros and cons of your position and the counter position based on evidence you have collected? Is our healthcare system in better hands with the government or private companies running it? Or would we be better off with the hybrid "public option"? Be sure to explain your position and offer concrete evidence to support your ideas and reasoning.
1. The system that is best suited for the nation' s need is a healthcare program wherein a citizen has the option to choose if the will join a healthcare program run by the government or just remain with his private healthcare plan.
The government can focus on those in dire need of support and the government can use some of its money to sustain other services. This will also help the government to prevent insufficiency of funds or even deficits.
2. Some countries alloted huge amount of money for the universal healthcare system, but problem arises when are other emergency needs that arises unexpectedly, and there is a need for additional calamity funds which needs to be given to support the calamity victims. Moreover, there is a need to safeguard the government's money making sure that the huge amount of money will not go to wastage due to some corrupt officials.
3. advantages Of Having an option to choose:
3.1 Affluent families preferred private health plans along with the private hospitals and doctors of their own choice.
3.2 Some wealthy family choos private health plans because of wider coverage.
3.3 The government can save money which it can use ti defray other expenses or can use the money saved to other government services.
Disadvantages:
3.1 There will be no uniformity of healthcare system for all the citizens.
3.2 This would mean loss of revenues for citizens who are capable of contributing for a healthcare plan of the government.
4. It is better if the healthcare plans are run by private companies who may be an expert in this field . Anyway, the government has the power to do this on a public private partnerhip wherein it is still under the givernment but can delegate the management of the healrgcare system to the experts.
