Adults with insulin-dependent diabetes who must self-inject insulin on at least a daily basis.

B. Identify an educational intervention that you would provide to members of this population to teach them this healthcare activity.

C. Conduct a literature search to identify existing instruments that would be appropriate for use to evaluate effectiveness of your teaching.

Critique each instrument you have identified for evidence of reliability, validity, appropriateness

E. Based on your critique, select one instrument you would use for evaluating teaching effectiveness. Justify your selection. 

 

A. It is very important know the warning signs of an insulin reaction. Low blood sugar occurs when there's too much insulin in the bloodstream and not enough sugar reaching the brain and muscles. Consistently use the same part where you first inject it in the morning because insulin absorbed in different speeds depending on the location of injection. An insulin bottle can be stored in a room temperature or refrigerator, opened or not. Do not store insulin in direct sunlight or freezers. Check your blood sugar prior to a meal and then give yourself the proper amount of insulin shortly before eating. And lastly, always check and store the strips properly, it is important to be always be sure that the glucometer is properly working and accurate as possible.

B. The teaching method will be a lecture and demonstration, I will need a glucometer with screen and test strip slot, a lancet device with releasing button, a needle, test strip and an alcohol swab. I will know the effectiveness of my teaching by doing a demonstration to themselves after my demonstration.

E. I would choose glucometer in my demonstration as my teaching instrument because glucometer is the one of the complicated to operate for adults. They will need a manual for it to turn it on, and where will the strip be inserted. Knowing of normal range and the signs in the screen is also a must.
