Explain, what you think the phrase "White Man's Burden" means.
Find at least TWO examples of where you might see the WMB today—think of politics, entertainment, culture, local affairs: anywhere you might find the attitudes and assumptions embedded in the phrase "white man's burden" in the world in 2020.
Historically, it was an effort of the poet Rudyard Kipling that supports imperialism; thinking aloud that the white people has the "divine burden to reign God's empire on earth" by and through colonization. Kipling, thinking that the natives are incapable of self-government, believes that through colonization, the natives who are non-white will become civilized. In particular, the poem "White Man's Burden" was Kipling's encouragement to America to assume colonial role on the Philippine archipelago after winning the battle against Spain who ruled the Philippines for some hundred years. Some people though, have considered Kipling's perspective as racist.
In the 2020's, we witness the "Black Lives Matter" movement that seemed to be a struggle against white man's superiority complex or racial prejudices. This is one glaring example how non-white people perceived themselves to have been treated unfairly by white men because of their ethnicity.
Another example of a "white man's burden" attitude was obvious during the 2020 US Presidential elections wherein the soon-to-be sworn-in as elected Vice President Kamala Harris became an object of racism because of her ancestry.
