Hypothesis question,What were the solutions and problems Correctional Officers and Prisoners face due to Covid-19?

As the global COVID-19 pandemic rises, it is vital to acknowledge the challenge facing the prisons and correctional officers. 

Some of the challenges experienced include understaffed correctional healthcare systems. Most prisons have inadequate number of nurses and doctors on location to respond to daily medical issues. There are limited backup health care professionals serving prisoners at different correctional facilities. Isolation is also a major and complex concern in correctional facilities. Most jails and prisons use their solid doors for quarantine as the only administrative segregation cells. Besides, even in clinical spaces and infirmaries in prisons and jails are not designed to contain the spread of the virus. Some correctional facilities also have less rooms meant for isolated patients. The other key challenge is the lack of sufficient medical supplies requires for treating individuals who get severely sick from COVID-19 infection. 

Now that the pandemic seems to be around for long, several solutions ought to be implemented to mitigate these challenges facing correctional facilities and officers. Some of them include releasing some inmates from prisons and jails to reduce congestion and spread of the virus. The testing capacity should also be expanded and contact tracing in jails and prisons while restricting all unnecessary movement of patients.
