The national security policy recommendation will build on the background assessment from Writing Assignment 1 (but not recopy or repeat it).
a
Write a policy recommendation for a relevant national security issue using the DIMEFIL framework for a specific national security issue you selected from among a list of options provided in Assignment 1 and based upon the same main national security policy background you prepared for the same issue.
a
The intent is that your policy recommendation contains specific counters to the capabilities you identified in your first writing assignment using the PMESII framework.
a
Your policy recommendation must include the following:
· Identification and definition of the important issues related to the specific national security issue you selected using the DIMEFIL framework
· A brief review of the opposing capabilities you identified using the PMESII framework
· At least two distinct policy options that are conceptualizations of creative alternative solutions to use US national DIMEFIL capabilities to offset/counter enemy PMESII capabilities
· Assessments of the advantages and disadvantages of each policy option using the DIMEFIL and PMESII frameworks to compare how well each uses US national DIMEFIL capabilities offset/counter enemy PMESII capabilities
· Anticipation of reactions and objections from the US national perspective to each policy option
· Your specific policy recommendation from among the options presented and assessed based upon the DIMEFIL-PMESII comparison and anticipated reactions and objections (NOT a hybrid option from among the options presented).
· Refer to the PMESII & DIMEFIL Primer to ensure you address all relevant aspects of the DIMEFIL framework.
A
