An organizational culture is made up of the shared values, beliefs, rules, norms, and symbols (heroes and villains) found within the organization. Culture develops over time and spreads to new individuals that enter the organization. Leaders influence the development, change, and sustainability of culture through their interaction with the shared values, beliefs, rules, norms, and symbols.
Lewin conceptualized change as a three-step process. The last step in this process is the refreezing the new state of being within the organization.
To make the change stick we must consider the way in which the change needs to be embedded into the cultural dimensions of the organization.
