This discussion asks students to choose something from the lesson that they agree with or disagree with. So I am going to go with two things that I agree with. I believe that in a world consumed with technology it has become toxic. The fact that studies are showing that children from the ages five to eighteen have spent at least 15,000 hours watching television is so sad to me. Especially since I am a mother of two children myself. Television itself is not a bad thing, but its consumption is what has gotten out of hand. Literature on the other hand stimulates children's and adults' minds and helps us to think critically, whereas television requires little to no thinking at all. Literature can also help us to increase our faith because it helps us to understand the secular world that we are trying to reach as Christians. It challenges us to go further in our thinking to have more empathy for what is going on around us. So that is why I believe that Literature is so important even in the modern world that we live in, and we should strive to read more of it. It will help our generation and future generations to better ourselves and themselves in our daily life as well as the impact we have on others.
