Gender inequality refers to the unequal access and treatment of women in terms of available resources, rights, and mobility as compared to men. Gender inequality still persists in the present day world, as a result of which women remain less powerful. With the existence of many other genders, problems of gender inequality also affects people from other gender like LGBTQ+. However, some of the pressing and visible problems of gender inequality points largely to the economic realm like gender pay gap. According to the U.S Census Bureau 2010, it has been found that men overwhelmingly outnumber women in powerful, authoritative, and high earning jobs.

The evidence of gender inequality in pay gap and economic mobility puts women in a weaker position in society as compared to men. Two solutions to this problem of gender inequality are- making wage equal for both men and women and paying women for household labor. The first solution will reduce the gender pay gap between men and women by giving women the same earnings as men. In the long term, it will reduce the extra cost and burden on women in housing, lifestyles, and livelihood. Moreover, it will also enable women to save up more and take the path of independence.

The second solution comes from the fact that on a average day, 84 per cent of women spend time doing household management activities as shown by the U.S census Bureau 2011. One effect of this setup is that women continue to remain in a subordinate role in the family. Not only this women become prone to losing their jobs and their careers. Therefore, if women are paid for the household work they do, they will not feel subordinated. Also, it is also a indication of how society can be progressive in showing due respect for the role women play in maintaining households.
