Skeletal muscles:

* They are distributed throughout the body. They are attached to skeleton by the tendons.

* They are activated by central nervous system (CNS) .

*They are voluntary. These muscles are the muscles which are under conscious control and can be controlled at will. It we can choose when to use them.

* They are multi-nucleated as a result of the fusion of the many myoblasts which fuse to form long muscle fiber containing multiple nuclei.

*they tire quickly due to lactic acid accumulation and also due to decline of contractile function.

Cardiac muscles:

* They are found along walls of heart.

* cardiac muscles have mononucleated cells

* These muscles are involuntary i,e they work on their own but their function is more rhythmic and constant as compared to skeletal muscles.

* They are controlled by autonomic nervous system (ANS) which acts rather unconsciously.

* These muscles are tireless due to abundant supply of mitochondria and work from embryonic period untill death.
