Technology integration in the classroom has been ever increasing from PowerPoint presentations to Wiki's, Blogs, and flipped classroom podcasting. Choose a subject area in which you plan to teach. Pick a grade level, and then research various technological advances and integrations. Pick one advance and explain it for your classmates including how it is currently being used or can be used in the classroom. You will also explain how this tool can help advance the subject area you chose, and your ability to teach it.

 

1.      Choose a subject area in which you plan to teach.

a.      Education/General Education-  (basing on the sudent's answer below, that his subject area is EDUCATION)

2.      Pick a grade level, and then research various technological advances and integrations.

a.      Secondary level (Senior High School/Junior High School)- depends on which one you like but with this example I rather

chose secondary level.

3.      Pick one advance and explain it for your classmates including how it is currently being used or can be used in the classroom.

1. Student-Created Media like Podcasts, Videos, or Slideshows- With this medium of advance digital or media learning, this will

allow students to be more engaged, motivated and participative to become creators and critics of the learning content being

uploaded or recorded using this advance technology. Through this, their critical thinking, knowledge and skills will be honed

more since they are involved in the process of learning. They are not sitting and listening to the discussion but at the same

time they are learning by doing.

Here are some of the types of this kind of advanced technology for learning.  

A. Student-produced podcasts- Students here can record their content via the internet and learners will access it

through digital music player on a computer or any mobile devices such as iPod.

Recorded audios can also be burn onto the CDs, so that students who have no access

to iPods can still use the material for learning. This medium of learning can vest

students and teachers to be creators not only mere receiver of the learning material

and can target more audience for learning beyond the classroom set-up. With the help

of this way of teaching and learning, it could enhance course ideas and students can

sharpen their speaking ability, develop their writing skills, enhance their critical thinking

and hone their way of analyzation. Through this mode of learning, it gives students

somehow a great meaning in life that motivates them to fulfill something at a young age

which can give them a strong foundation for their future.

B. Quality digital storytelling- With the use of digital cameras nowadays, it is now easy for students to visualize

learning. We all know that some learners are good at visualization, some were auditory,

and some are both. However, making a digital story is not as easy as 1,2,3. It takes skills

and knowledge to deliver this kind of learning. Educators considering this kind of

advance technology as one of the mediums for learning integrated in the classroom, is

such a brilliant idea to entice students more to learn. In line with this, students may

develop more their skills and knowledge in writing, critical thinking, research, and in

visual learning. Through the new technology, students are more excited and are enticed

to do good even more in learning. We all knew students now are hooked up on new

technology and mostly are what we called techy. So, it is a good idea to integrate this

kind of technology to provide them entertainment as well as learning in one. Hence,

students may strive more to take part during the learning process. Allowing students to

use this technology as a vehicle for their growth and learning can allow them discover

more about their selves such as talents, knowledge and skills.

With regards to General Education/Education as my subject area, this advanced technology tool can greatly help me teach the students effectively. I believe that integrating instructional technology in school /classroom can enhance learning. Students also need to be knowledgeable in todays modern and advance technology to become productive for themselves in the future as well as for the community. This advancement in technology could help this subject be easily understandable by the students. This can only be effective if technology is properly used, transparent, accessible and readily available, and of course has a positive effect in helping students achieve their goals in learning. If this technology is used effectively in this subject area, it can encourage students to be more engaged in the learning process and doing their projects. As an educator, this is such a useful tool to reach out to the students nowadays and provide them a level up way of teaching and learning especially that our world is engaging now to the computer/new technology era.
