Draw the mechanism for the formation of propyl acetate from the propanol and acetic
CH3COOH + CH3CH2CH2OH = H2O + CH3COOCH2CH3CH2CH2
Propyl acetate is the product of the reaction between acetic acid and propanol. This reaction is called esterification, in which a carboxylic acid (acetic acid) and an alcohol (propanol) form an ester (propyl acetate). In this reaction water is eliminated via condensation.
