Discuss patient privacy concerns using telehealth. How are these concerns being addressed during the pandemic?
Patient privacy is a valid concern and it should be taken serious. The main concerns is about internet privacy that is increasing day by day due to internet fraud. Many patients are worried about the security of their personal information. Perceptions about privacy are a greater concern with many more patients. We must have a secure connections and data encryption and it will help to protect information during telehealth visits. There are many patients that want more assurances to ease their concern. They should contact with clinical provider and ask how their privacy is being protected.
Clinical care providers should use HIPAA-enabled telehealth applications and video conferencing platforms. This will protect the data. Patient privacy and data protection policies should be established and made accessible to patients before their telehealth visit. They should include functional, operational, and technical protections for patient privacy and data captured during and after the clinical encounter. During this pandemic it is increasing, most of the meetings and contacts are taking place through internet and it's the major sources of data leakage. If the connection is not secure then any patients could lose his personal data. So connection security is must and they must include safe and secure network.
What types of telehealth services are acceptable? Unacceptable?
The acceptable form of tele health services are the services that are private to patients and that do not leak their data. Such services may include Live Video-Conferencing, Asynchronous Video, Remote Patient Monitoring or Mobile Health.
Use of public-facing remote communication products are unacceptable and they may include Facebook Live, Twitch, or a public chat room, because they are designed to be open to the public or allow wide or indiscriminate access to the public.
