Human-Related Fire Behavior
This is your last week on probation and you are looking forward to permanent status at
your new rank. A lot has happened over the last several weeks that have prevented you
from being able to research something that has been an interest to you since you read it
in a trade publication. You saw an article on fire related human behavior and you have a
presentation to make at a local community group next week. You have decided to do a
Web search and develop a presentation of human related fire behavior to include on
your talk that will be a little different than the usual check your smoke detector, EDITH,
and stop, drop, and roll.
Produce a PowerPoint presentation that the Fire Department can use to present to
community groups and organizations on human related fire behavior. This presentation
should be easily understood by those outside the fire service but adequately educates
them on the steps they can take to reduce the chances of them being a victim of fire
based on the research you conduct. Be sure to discuss both quantitative and qualitative
methods of research in the presentation. Note: This presentation is not a fire safety talk
that discusses changing batteries and EDITH!
