Formation of discussion groups is effective for study skills. Discuss from the perspective of Communication Skills.

 

Communication skills are the ability to interact effectively with others, listening effectively with concision and clarity. It also involves open-mildness, empathy, friendliness, confidence, and respect. An effective discussion group should be made of people with better communication skills to bring out good results. In a discussion group, the group members can only follow and understand effectively if the speaker possesses good communication skills (Moore et al., 2018). for instance, if the group member is confident, open-minded, and able to convince others, then the discussion will be effective. If the member explains their points/opinion in a friendly but calm way, other members feel free to question doubt or misunderstanding. This creates a conducive atmosphere where each member of the group can participate effectively. Better and effective communication in a discussion should understand and embrace the meaning of empathy. i.e., members should be considerate of other's affairs, respect and treat each other fairly. This brings about a sense of belonging into the group, and all members are likely to benefit in every study they discuss, hence improving their performance.
