Web 2.0 and how it changed the behavior of Internet Users

Web 2.0 is generally known as the internet we all know and use today. It is the platform that we all use for social media, and online articles we use for research. Since it has first used in 1999, it has changed the world and how we have relied on it.

I believe Web 2.0 has changed the behavior of users today because we have become more reliant to it and it’s features not unlike with Web 1.0 which was “read only” in usage. People are now able to create their own user accounts and now often use Web 2.0 to communicate, share ideas and opinions and search topics, which has made life easier and faster as we no longer need to go to different places like the library to do research.

The behavior change has been both advantageous and disadvantageous to users, as different people have used it for good and bad. It certainly eased our way of living and made communication easier via social media websites, but it also has a lot of disadvantages especially for our safety and security. There are users who have used it to stalk others, some have used it to steal another person’s identity and plenty more other crimes.

Another huge part in Web 2.0 is the creation of different social media platforms. These platforms have helped us talk to other people across different places, put our ideas for others to see and comment on our own opinions about a certain topic. It has been a part of our daily routine and some of us have used it to earn a living, but it is important to remember that social media may have created a new path for us to live our lives, it is important that we also safeguard our information and privacy from other users who have ill intentions.
