1) One of the most important tips for mastering online interviews is to be well prepared. This means rehearsing many times, recording myself, and asking for feedback from family and friends to spot my mistakes so I can correct them.

The second tip is to dress appropriately for the interview because the first impression made about me will be from my appearance. This is true because in our daily lives, when we meet people for the first time, we focus on the person’s appearance first.

The strength I gained from mastering any interview is using the STAR method, in which I tell the best success story from my past that clearly demonstrates how I accomplished a task that I was faced with. This is important because it allows me to show the hiring manager that I possess the skills or abilities needed to complete a relevant task in the future. In other words, it shows that I am capable.

The other strength I gained is knowing how to end the interview on a positive note and ask smart questions. To end strongly, it is good to ask the hiring manager a smart question because this will give the impression that I really want this role after the interview, and that I show interest. Furthermore, leaving a thank you note after ending the interview will show enthusiasm.

2. After reviewing the videos, I learned how important a first impression can be. The employer may see a cluttered background during your video interview and perceive you are messy and unorganized. Your appearance may also show if you are tidy and well-groomed. This may reflect you care and have respect for yourself and future coworkers. Another important lesson is prior to attending the interview be prepared. There are many things you can do to be ready. For example, do research on the company you are applying for. You may be asked what you know about the company or how you see yourself fitting into that type of work environment. If you have at least the basic knowledge of their mission or views you not only go in prepared but also can understand if this position is really what you are looking for. After you do the research and agree this is the right position for you, practicing for the actual interview may be helpful. As the video expressed many times the interviewer may ask generic questions or are not trained to conduct interviews. If you practice some basic questions or if working with a recruiter, they may be able to guide you on how to answer common interview questions. The two strengths I gained while working on the worksheet was the importance of asking questions at the end of the interview and making your weakness sound positive. When you ask questions at the end of an interview it showcases your interest in the company and you may also be able to build on the knowledge you obtained when doing some background research on the company. When discussing your weakness, you can turn it around and make them seem positive. For example, if you say you pay close attention to detail, the employer may perceive you do not like to make mistakes.

Great post! You mentioned that it is important for one to be well prepared for an online interview. I could not agree with you more. I believe that interviews act as the first and primary step towards securing dream jobs and because of this, one should do everything in their power to be well prepared. You have mentioned various ways to do this including asking for feedback, rehearsing, and recording yourself. Above all these, I always feel like nervousness one vice that make people fail in an interview. To avoid this, I have always found that giving objective feedback and responses to the interviewers can help reduce nervousness. It will help in avoiding interviewers from asking some of the most obvious questions. Practice and preparations also help in boosting one’s confidence. Doing background research about the firm, the company, or the hospital you are applying to is also very important. Being more knowledgeable about the firm might assure the managers that you want to work with them. Early preparation is essential for every successful interview. What are your thoughts on this? You have also mentioned about ending an interview with a positive note or a smart question. This is vital. I think I will also start doing this.

Great post! Just as you have mentioned, first impression is very important. Interviewers are always very keen and they can easily deduce whether you are organized based on the state of your background and vice versa. The same goes to your appearance. It is vital to dress well and appear neat. If I were an interviewer, I would access how the interviewee is dressed and how his/her background looks like. It really tells a lot about someone. Therefore, first impression is very crucial. Doing background research about a company is also very important. As you have mentioned, you can be asked about the company or what it does and it is vital that you know. I always believe that being more knowledgeable about the company or firm might assure the managers that you want to work with them. For every successful interview, early preparation is inevitable. You have also mentioned about asking questions at the end of the interview and making your weakness sound positive. This is very important. I believe that asking questions shows how serious you are and also shows how interested you are about both the company and the job position itself.
