For this assignment, you will conduct a Mini Ethnography of a place. Visit a cultural center you have never visited before. Keep in mind that almost anything can serve as a site of cultural activity including restaurants, places of worship outside of your faith community, parks, or stores catering to specific cultural communities (i.e., specializing in crafts or a specific kind of sport). Draft a document of 400-500 words reflecting on your experience.
Using techniques from ethnographic research, be sure to include the following in your reflection:
Mini Ethnography
I visited Universal Studios in Orlando. It is a culturally diverse place with a variety of social activities taking place. The main activities being conducted include but are not limited to shopping and dining, interaction with movie stars, racing with known celebrities like the family of 'Fast and furious, and getting information about the upcoming films (Reyes et al.,2020). The first thing I noticed when I got there was that the population of females was higher than males. It was notable that women were more than men in the Universal Studios in Orlando.
Universal Studios Description
The universal studios in Orlando is a culturally diverse place with many functions being conducted. The primary service being offered in the place is movie and film entertainment. It provides interaction with movie stars such as Harry Potter and the family of 'Fast and furious. The studios entertain Ride 3D, Ride Rock it, and music-fueled roller coaster. Additionally, the place also offers dining and shopping location where families can shop and dine for their meals during the session. The place is open to everybody, even though I realized that couples and families were the majority.
Unique Element
One unique element that I noticed in universal studios is older people in the place. I saw elderly individuals who had come to entertain themselves. I usually believe that movie and film sites are youth zones. The presence of elderly individuals was a unique feature to me. The elderly individuals were present in the water theme park and movie zone. They were busy entertaining themselves like the youth in their early twenties. This unique feature surprised but also impressed me.
Similar Element
Despite the presence of some older people, it was clear that the majority of the individuals in the studios were youth between the age of twenty and thirty-five years old. The youth element was a similar factor between most of the individuals on the site and me. I noticed that nearly all the youth were using their smartphones to take photos and record videos on the experience in the Orlando universal studios. The use of smartphones was a similar element because almost every youth, including myself, took photos.
Final Feeling
I felt comfortable visiting the place. The comfortable feeling was because the customer's treatment was friendly. People were being allowed to entertain themselves in the entertainment areas without interruption. The reception that the employees in the area were, according to customers, was welcoming. Customer care personnel were around to help anybody who needed assistance. The site had directions that assisted individuals in identifying various scenic places in the region. The organization of the studios and the customer relationship that the employees displayed were enough to make me feel comfortable.
