Difference between medievalism and Hellenism

                    According to Mathews (2015), medievalism refers to the study of the Middle Ages, the adaptation of medieval models to modern demands, and the use of the Middle Ages as a source of inspiration in all kinds of art and thinking. Medievalism is also a set of practices and beliefs inspired by Europe's Middle Ages or by devoutness of that period's elements that have been manifested in fields such as philosophy, architecture, art, literature, and music (Mathews, 2015). Since the eighteenth century, the medieval period has inspired or modeled creative activities such as romanticism, neo-medievalism, Gothic revival, craft movements, and arts.

                   On the contrary, Hellenism, also known as Hellenization, refers to a historical period when the ancient Greek language, religion, and culture was spread over foreign individuals that the Greeks had conquered and brought into the sphere that they used to influence, especially after the Alexander the Great's conquest in the 4^th century, B.C.E (Hladky, 2017). Hellenization resulted in components of Greek provenance combining with indigenous elements in diverse forms and degrees. These Greek influences expanded from the Mediterranean basin to modern-day India (Hladky, 2017). Hellenism was also founded on the notion that humans are the universe's ultimate source of authority and trust.
