 Comparison of Indentured Servitude and Slavery

            Indentured servitude is a contract between two people where one person works for the other to service or repay a loan (Delao, 2021). On the other hand, slavery refers to a situation in which an individual is owned by another person (Delao, 2021). The similarity in experiences between indentured servitude and slavery is that in both cases, the person considered a slave can be sold or loaned to another person. In the context of difference, indentured servitude is a contract with an expiry date. At the same time, in slavery, a person is considered a commodity and is therefore rightfully owned by the other person forever (Delao, 2021). The second difference is that in indentured servitude, the laborer is entitled to fundamental human rights. In slavery, the slave is denied some fundamental human rights since they are considered an individual’s property.

Factors that Contributed to the rise of the British Empire in the Atlantic

 The rise of the British Empire in the Atlantic was mainly brought about by the war between the British and French that began as a confrontation in North America (Eacott, 2018). Both the British and the French lived in different portions of North America. Still, each of them wanted to occupy the entire continent hence bringing about a war that Britain won, and they subsequently established their empire in the Atlantic region.
