1 Personal Success Examples of personal success There are three main principles for consideration for personal success. These principles include being real, being innovative, and being whole. Being real means capable of acting with authenticity through clarifying what is very important to a person. Being whole means to be able to act with a lot of integrity and recognize the different parts of life at different places such as, at work, at home, in the community, and how different philosophies affect different people in the society (Dijkhuizen et al., 2018). Being whole and natural qualifies an individual to be innovative and creative. Acting with creativity and being pragmatic on how best things are done indicates personal success. Personal success means thinking and talking about things that genuinely inspire People. Personal success requires focusing and figuring out ways to take incremental steps that are controllable, leading an individual to the direction of choice and bringing other individuals alongside (Furnham, 2021). Personal success is challenging to achieve, but it is attainable and significant achievement can come in a particular way. A pattern of success is narrowed down to setting realistic and attainable goals, then tracking and assessing the goals’ results (Dijkhuizen et al., 2018). This enables a person to repeat what works best hence creating a pattern of success. Creating a pattern of success requires an individual to be conversant with the knowledge of goal setting to enable goal achieving and personal in-depth knowledge. 2 List of core values Although there are many values for individual success, there are only five central cornerstone values: Honesty, perseverance, diligence, accountability, and disciple (Viljoen, 2020). Out of the five cornerstone core values, Honesty is the bedrock for personal success. Honesty helps to define an individual’s capability before allowing other people to know and understand more about one. How to make a difference Making a difference at home, in the workplace, and in the community means making a significant impression on societies. This entails personal change and growth, giving more to the needy when you have, respecting the poor, and helping them as more as possible (Viljoen, 2020). Giving back at work and appreciating hard-working staff members through gift provisions, starting local charity organizations, embolden education to the community members, and doing other voluntary missions to the society. Short-term and long-term goals Short-term goals are achievable quickly; these are goals that are to be accomplished soon, like a period of 12 months or less, while long-term goals are goals that can take a long time to be achieved (Furnham 2021). Long-term goals take time, as a year to decades, for them to be accomplished. Examples of short-term goals include building a morning routine, keeping Daily Journal, practicing Daily Family rituals, exploring new things every day, and attending 3 personality development seminars. Some long-term goals include regularly volunteering, earning a college degree, increasing emotional intelligence, and becoming a better parent or a spouse. The best way to prioritize goals is through setting long-term goals first. This enables a person to have a sense of direction and purpose immediately after identifying and setting the long-term goals, set short-term goals related to long-term goals (Furnham 2021). It is essential to know that long-term goals act as the stepping stones for achieving a long-term goal. Prioritizing short-term goals enhances the accomplishment of long-term goals as it helps to motivate an individual to pursue achieving other goals. In terms of the priority of the goal, short-term goals are given first chance, for example, taking classes, writing of resume, buying a new television for a family, etc. while long-term goals are prioritized depending on the situation, like when married, be a better spouse and when blessed with kids the be a better parent. Process of writing a mission statement When writing a mission statement for personal success, ensure to write down what is most important. The mission statement starts with what a person is all about and what an individual wants to be (Seong-Yuen et al., 2017). The person must articulate the most critical goals, talk and communicate with the peer and lastly, identify the legacy the person would like to leave whether at home, at the workplace, in the community, or society. Importance of mission statements A mission statement enables employees to see and visualize the meaning and purpose of their work by providing an individual with clear reasons on how their job achieves a larger goal 4 hence personal achievement (Seong-Yuen et al., 2017). It also helps a person see the positive aspects of their daily activities, creating long-term employee investment and boosting person morale in the workplace, at home, and in society. Education and intelligence are of course very important as well, however if an individual is irresponsible and lazy, then their intelligence will be a waste. I also believe that my experience living outside of the United States is a major strength, especially living in third world countries. The United States provides more opportunity for a better life, as long as you work hard. Weaknesses My three main weaknesses that I believe I need to work on are being impatient, indecisive and taking on too many things at once. I consider myself an efficient multitasker however, I do at times take on more responsibilities than I can handle. I learned this while performing this analysis. I thought of being a multitasker as a strength then realized that I overdo it sometimes. This weakness is magnified by the fact that I can also be impatient and indecisive sometimes. I need to learn to have patience and be more decisive. This way, I can also control the amount of work I take on. Opportunities The top opportunities from my analysis are that I have been in the healthcare industry for over six years, I own a business related to the healthcare field and I am not on social media, though this is also a threat. I want to eventually be a hospital administrator so any experience I attain prior to that is an opportunity to enhance my resume. I also own a physical therapy business and 4 work with Home Health Cares to provide physical therapy services to the elderly. This is another form of experience that gives me the opportunity to learn and grow in the field. Lastly, I perceive not being on social media an opportunity because I am not influenced by outside sources. Being on social media is not a bad thing, however it can be a double edged sword when it comes to professionalism. Threats The main threats that I face are being bossy, being too emotional at times and not being on social media. Being bossy is a threat because it can alienate me from others by pushing them away. Should this happen in a professional environment, it will be hard to overcome. I can also be too emotional sometimes. I’m the type that wears my emotions on my sleeves and this can be a threat in the professional environment. I mentioned not being on social media as an opportunity but it can also be a threat. Most individuals and professional establishments are for better or for worse, on social media. Hence, not being on social media can be a threat to career advancement.
