A Final Paper (15pts, now due April 24th) will include reflections on your musical events and a summation of observations based on all contact opportunities. Articulate a thesis--one that has emerged from your fieldwork, to help organize and focus your observations. This paper should be written in a relatively formal manner, yet the overall approach to the material collected and interpreted can be creative. You may use the first person singular, to reflect and define your relationship to the topic and the people you’ve worked with. You are encouraged to weave in pertinent, supportive references to information acquired through your secondary source material. The focus should be on your fieldwork. I will be looking for evidence of background research, observations and interviews, along with 2-3 of the remaining research strategies described in the syllabus. Please conclude briefly with reflections on the process, on the success or challenges of chosen strategies and methodologies, and your feelings about the overall outcome of the project. You MUST include the Fieldwork Project checklist with any referenced sources, including the names (and dates where possible) of the people you’ve interviewed and the events you’ve attended. (Please note: I will not read your paper if you have not included a Project check list.) This will serve as your Bibliography. Bring documentation that has been generated during your fieldwork to the Round table presentation so you may share it with your peers.
