The goal of this assignment is help you locate credible secondary sources to aid your rhetorical analysis. While there are many potential sources you might use for any given research assignment, not all sources are equally credible, or equally helpful, to your specific composing goal. How can you evaluate whether or not a source you’ve found is a “good” one to support the rhetorical analysis you’re working on? What makes the author of the source someone you can trust on the subject they are writing about? This assignment will provide you with tools to help you make these decisions.
To begin this assignment, again review the "Evaluating Sources Criteria" document (see below). It will help you think critically about the secondary sources you find. Second, you should again visit the research-related content in the Modules section. Next, make sure to use the resources within the ASU library databases to search for reliable and meaningful secondary sources for your project.
Remember: your goal is to locate sources you can use and cite *within* your analysis. When you have located and read at least two secondary sources you think will aid your rhetorical analysis, do the following:
The first source is the study of Khan (2021), which has been selected because it encapsulates how the leadership of Elon Musk has been instrumental in giving Tesla Motors a forward thrust to grow. The source is credible in acting as a valid construct for this rhetoric about Elon Musk because it uses several shreds of evidence from other secondary sources to complement its findings. The structured observation method of study used in the article validates its results by basing the conclusions on aspects witnessed. Khan (2021) has striven to align the leadership traits of Elon Musk with traditional corporate leadership approaches through the prism of comparison. Besides this, the study exfoliates the leadership traits of Musk at Tesla Motors and demonstrates that servant leadership towers high in Musk’s approach. Also, Khan (2021) provides recommendations deemed worthwhile to Elon Musk to attain a higher performance in his endeavors.
The use of real-life examples and discourses at the Tesla Motor Company makes this study fitful for project two. For example, the conversations between Elon Musk and engineers at Tesla have been mentioned betimes to explain how his leadership style has contributed to the firm’s success. In these examples, different appeals to emotion, logic, decision, and ethics are embossed. Furthermore, a holistic description of Elon Musk is given in this piece. The description includes how he is a risk-taker in his leadership, lack of ingenuity, direct interaction with employees at Tesla, and entrepreneurial skills. In addition, Musk’s charisma, creativity, intelligence, multicultural approach, pedagogy, and servanthood have been captured in this article. Therefore, this article has a broad spectrum regarding its exploration of Musk’s leadership style vis-à-vis his success, making it worthwhile for project two.
The second source is the study of Kulshreshth, Anand & Lakanpal (2019) befits project two because it articulates how Elon Musk has created the Neuralink Institute to bolster the use of artificial intelligence in industry. The article will be helpful in the completion of project two in a two-pronged way. One of these is that it describes how Elon Musk has pioneered the creation of Neuralink to bridge the insecurity gap among human beings because of the emergence of the use of robots in industry. It implies that robots have evoked fear among people that they could probably lose their jobs or their place in enterprise due to the advent of artificial intelligence catapulted by machine learning. Another reason is that the study demystifies the symbiotic linkage between humans and robots regarding the use of robots by humans in industrial production. The creation of this symbiotic relationship provides a rationale for why humans remain important to industry amid the increased use of robots.
Additionally, the study will complement project two by capturing how Elon Musk has delved into neural networks, brain-machine interfaces, and artificial intelligence to heal the insecurities among us. The description of the merger between AI and human input de-escalates insecurity in industry and enunciates an ethical disposition regarding the invocation of the tenets of technology amid the use of human labor.
