Write a short counterclaim for the claim Michelle Obama is making in these remarks to the Grocery Manufacturers Association.
So this isn't surprising when studies show that even a single commercial can impact a child's brand preferences—and that kids who see foods advertised on TV are significantly more likely to ask for them at the store.
So whatever we believe about personal responsibility and self-determination, I think we can all agree that it doesn't apply to kids.
I think we can all agree that parents need more control over the products and messages their kids are exposed to. Parents are working hard to provide a healthy diet and to teach healthy habits—and we'd like to know that our efforts won't be undermined every time our children turn on the TV or see a flashy display in a store.
Answer:
Claiming that company advertisements can impact children's product preferences is not wise enough because in the first place, we need these companies for our daily services to the public. My opinion is that it should not be generalized or rather be made as a group like thing because if somebody feels that adverts are of no assistance to him or her then i suggest that kind of a person should really understand the importance of advertisements on TV. Consequently, i thing nobody can really force someone to purchase something he or she doesn't like, if it is a matter of kids in this case, then the parent is the overall and final decision maker for what his or her child will feed on because parents have that audacity to bring up healthy children and they are the ones who know exactly what is good to their children.
Advertising is the best way to communicate with customers who are the consumers of these products. So this means that without advertisements then it would be difficult for companies to reach their consumers and this means the sells will drop and the company may collapse which then may lead to loss of jobs and in the long run the country's economy is going to be affected.
Advertising also help inform the customers which brands are available in the market, in this case, customers include children and the old as well but here children are still young to decide for themselves, they need to be taught that not all products are good for them so that they don't end up insisting on certain products. It is therefore important that the parents or the guardians should have the ability to surpass that effect of adverts in their children to some company products.
However, companies will always work to advertise their products because actually it's business and business means competition. whenever a new product is introduced in the market, a company will have to put that product on trial, that is to make people know of the new product. It is also important for a company to advertise so that they embrace continuity, this means to keep the existing customers to stick in the product, furthermore, brand switching is also one of the objective of adverts which is basically for those companies who would want to attract the customers of their competitors.
Therefore it is important to put emphasis on the fact that advertising plays a very important role in today's world of competition since it has become a necessity for everybody in our day to day life be it the customers, producers or the retailers and so we should not condemn it.
Nevertheless, advertising also plays and important role in educating people in the society in matters like; child labour, smoking, liquor consumption, family planning and violence.
