The journey of becoming a competent nurse is not achieved in one day; however, this is a progressive process. Various incident and experience make one realize is becoming a competent nurse.  In my case, what made me realize that I was on my way to becoming a competent nurse was that while working as a practitioner nurse, I began to gain experience in assessing and planning nursing care requirements, I was able to provide pre- and post-operative care, and I began taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures, and blood pressure. Moreover, I was capable of writing records and tutoring student nurses. I did those operations perfectly and I realized I am one of the competent nurses.
