For example, Apple Inc., under the leadership of Steve Jobs, was the first organization to design and make a smartphone. However, over time, many new competitors are making similar products; despite the entrance of new competitors, Apple Inc. sustained its competitive advantage by being innovative. The example of Apple helps in explaining the nature of the business sphere; competition will always arise. I hope to start an eatery. The business will entail making fast foods for dinners, travelers and other people interested in takeaways. The nature of the business will compete with established businesses such as McDonald's, Jack-in-the-Box, and Burger King. The business organization is entering a market with established brands; however, regardless of the competition, the eatery will be created because it will offer unique foods that would satisfy the clients’ expectation both culturally and socially. The foods in the eatery will be made-to-order, which means it will be tailored to suit the client’s social and cultural aspects. Furthermore, the business will be started to offer alternative space, and dinner place that address clients' expectations. In general, the business will source raw fresh foods from registered suppliers from the different cultural communities it will also source other ingredients from the appropriate suppliers. The food will be made within the eatery’s outlet and served there, or delivered to cars driving in. However, some food based on the client’s request may be takeaways or delivered to the client's homes. The eatery will have adequate space that can accommodate at least 50 people at any given time. The service and products available will be promoted on signboards, billboards, local radio stations, and social media platforms. Importantly, word of mouth will be encouraged so that existing clients can share their experiences with their friends about the eatery and refer them to it. Specifically about the business, the distribution of the product, which will essentially be done at the business outlets and to home or office deliveries, will be influenced by the location of the outlet. At the start of the business, only one outlet will be opened in a metropolitan area with high human traffic. The outlets will be designed such that they can enable counter service, drivethru, and sit-downs. By counter service, it means a client can enter the outlet, place an order, the order is prepared and packaged for the client to carry home; sit-down is when the client eats from the place. In the case of the drive-thru, the client makes an order before arriving at the outlet, BUSINESS PLAN WIREFRAME 4 such that on arrival, the food is delivered to his car such that he has no time to wait. Therefore, the suppliers around the region will be contracted to supply different products based on the available cultures. For example, if the business outlet will be a region with Latinos from Puerto Rico and Latinos from Peru, then the food items that suit the people's cultures there will be sourced. Market Opportunity Like any other takeaway or drive through eatery, the business is best located in a metropolitan place, with good road connection, and outside the town center. Ideally, it should be on the road linking to a cosmopolitan residential area. The business's location will enable it to serve different cultures because customizing food based on culture is its core differentiating aspect compared to the existing restaurants. Importantly, the location should have high traffic, which means the adjacent residential places should be populated enough to attract a high number of clients on any given day. Furthermore, in order to increase the business visibility, intentional online marketing will be done. Specifically, business bloggers will be hired to publicize the business. Business blogging will that help the business enhance its online prospect and brand cognizance. Business blogging targets a mass market because of the many people who depend on the internet. Most business bloggers have a large following from different people and don’t have target groups; they depend on people viewing their posts. Blogging is a brand, and if it has authentic information and services, people will follow it and advertise the product there. Different bloggers use different strategies to reach their people, and the method will determine whether they will be international or local bloggers. Some bloggers have an international following, and they sell their BUSINESS PLAN WIREFRAME 5 products and services to people globally. Business blogging reaches a mass market because, with tight schedules for people and high access to the internet and smartphones, people prefer visiting blog sites to get more information on products and services they need. In order to ensure that the agency is effective in publicizing the business venture, it has to stand out in content because it is essential for bloggers to reduce competition; they have to provide unique content that is entertaining and educating to their readers. Quality and quantity in business blogging are critical because they increase success in the industry and reduce competition; bloggers should be willing to produce excellent content in abundance. To stand out in the blogging industry, bloggers should major in helpful content rather than viral content because valuable content will forever be educative and generates steady traffic over time Competitive Environment As noted above, the nature of the business will compete with established businesses such as McDonald's, Jack-in-the-Box, and Burger King. The established brands have the financial capacity to engage in aggressive marketing, open up more branches close to people, and employ more experienced employees. Furthermore, the competitors have loyal clientele. However, the business will position itself from the existing businesses in the hospitality sector as one that makes customized foods for its clients. It will offer unique foods that would satisfy the clients’ expectation both culturally and socially. Importantly, the organization will gain competitive advantage by sourcing for cultural foods from the source markets through the communities. It essentially means that Brazilian ingredients will be sourced from Brazil using the Brazilian community in town. The situation will reduce the cost of sourcing for foods because travellers to and from various countries are BUSINESS PLAN WIREFRAME 6 available on daily basis. By sourcing for foods using the local community networks, it will help build loyal repeat clients, who would always dine or order foods from the eatery because it connects with them. Statement of Ethics The organization will adhere to the highest ethical standards in terms of environmental conservation. It will not engage in activities or source for products that result in environmental degradation. Furthermore, the organization will exercise fair labor practices; it would not employ underage people, discriminate employees on the basis of gender, race or culture. Importantly, the organization will only buy products from upstream supply chain that also exercise fair labor practices. The ethical standards are aimed at helping the organizing promote trust and integrity among the employees and other stakeholders (Schroeder, 2019). Furthermore, the ethical standards will drive employee behavior and other groups that would engage with the organization. Statement of Social Responsibility As a new entrant in the hospitality sector, and due to its unique business model where it positions itself as offering customized foods that suit the tastes and cultures of clients. Business Plan for the Quill Eatery
Introduction
In the economic sphere, business organizations endeavor to be competitive and sustain their competitiveness; however, not every business organization operates in the same market niche or offers the same product. I hope to start an eatery whose name is The Quill. Importantly, the business will also be started to gain profits to the shareholders.
The Quill’s Mission Statement
The Quill’s brand mission is to lead in making customized foods for clients from all cultures and economic backgrounds based on their specifications. The fast foods will be made-to-order in order to reflect that unique client cultures and tastes. The business’s outlets will be aligned with the strategy that enhances exceptional customer experience in terms of products, place and pricing. The business is continuously enhancing its operations to always exceed the changing customer expectations.
The Quill’s Vision Statement
To be a leading made-to-order eatery in the state serving clients from all cultures and walks of life. Furthermore, the organization will always offer culturally suitable foods that have been sourced ethically to so as to enhance human dignity and environmental sustainability and even become better at enhancing customer experiences.
Product and Service Description
The business venture will operate in the hospitality sector; it will be guided by the rules, laws and regulations that guide the operations of businesses in the sector. In general, the business will source raw fresh foods from registered suppliers from the different cultural communities it will also source other ingredients from the appropriate suppliers within the state. All ingredients sourced will be quality because it has to meet the standards of the relevant agency in terms of safety. Specifically, whereas the foods will be cultural foods, among those tat will be served include macaroni, spaghetti, chicken products , different breakfast items, hamburgers, milk products, juices among others. These products will be made according to the different client cultures in order to bring out the cultural experience of the clients visiting or ordering foods. For example, the deserts for Africans will be made differently from the desserts of Asians or of Latinos because of differences in how their cultural foods are prepared including the ingredients that will be included. A similar case will be in how breakfast items will be prepared; for example, the coffee for Italians will be made differently from the coffee for Arabs.
Service
The food will be made within the eatery’s outlet and served there, or delivered to cars driving in. However, some food based on the client’s request may be takeaways or delivered to the client's homes. Apart from the foods which will be delivered in cars or homes, other foods at the restaurant will be served by considering the cultural orientation of the customers. The food will be served in vessels culturally sensitive and in a manner and following the rituals associated with the culture. The intention of focusing on culture is to create product differentiation. The business operates in a market with existing brands; therefore, the organization differentiates itself from competitors by focusing on culture.
For example, when serving Arabian clients with coffee, it would be accompanied by the cultural rituals that include preparing the coffee in specially designed kettles in front of clients. Importantly, in case the clients are in a group, the order of serving the meals will be culturally sensitive. In Arabic culture, the eldest member of the group is served first; furthermore a cup is never filled with coffee, it is only filled a quarter full then it can be refilled when the client has taken some of it. This description of the nature of service is reflective of what is expected at the restaurant.
The eatery will have adequate space that can accommodate at least 50 people at any given time. The interior design will reflect different cultures, there will be Arabic art, western art, African art, which will be well arranged to create a good motif of interior design. A part from serving fast foods, the business will also allow cultural events to be held in the premises. For example, cultural weddings and celebrations can be held at the section of the eatery as other clients continue with their service uninterrupted.
Specifically about the business, the distribution of the product, which will essentially be done at the business outlets and to home or office deliveries, will be influenced by the location of the outlet. At the start of the business, only one outlet will be opened in a metropolitan area with high human traffic. The outlets will be designed such that they can enable counter service, drive-thru, and sit-downs. By counter service, it means a client can enter the outlet, place an order, the order is prepared and packaged for the client to carry home; sit-down is when the client eats from the place. In the case of the drive-thru, the client makes an order before arriving at the outlet, such that on arrival, the food is delivered to his car such that he has no time to wait. Therefore, the suppliers around the region will be contracted to supply different products based on the available cultures. For example, if the business outlet will be a region with Latinos from Puerto Rico and Latinos from Peru, then the food items that suit the people's cultures there will be sourced. The service and products available will be promoted on signboards, billboards, local radio stations, and social media platforms. Importantly, word of mouth will be encouraged so that existing clients can share their experiences with their friends about the eatery and refer them to it.
The nature of services at the restaurant will enable the new venture to easily penetrate the market and capture a large market share. Importantly, the increasing cultural diversity in urban settings make it necessary to create avenues where people can remember their cultures because it is part of the heritage that should not be lost, but should be allowed to continue from generation to generation. In this case, the services offered at the restaurant will be filling-in the existing gap by attending to a clientele interested in associating with its culture because otherwise the minor communities and ethnic groups may lose their culture, which means a loss of identity.
Market Opportunity
The business targets clients from all cultures and walks of life; however, the specific feature of the client is that they should be interested in associating with cultures. For example, clients in America who would want to taste the Asian coffee would be able to experience it when they visit the restaurant and order for the tea. The products and services offered will have cultural orientation depending on the interests of the client. In fact, the cultural orientation of the products is the selling point of the products offered
Like any other takeaway or drive through eatery, the business is will located in a metropolitan place, with good road connection, and outside the town center. Competitive Environment
As noted above, the nature of the business will compete with established businesses such as McDonald's, Jack-in-the-Box, and Burger King.
The situation will reduce the cost of sourcing for foods because travellers to and from various countries are available on daily basis. By sourcing for foods using the local community networks, it will help build loyal repeat clients, who would always dine or order foods from the eatery because it connects with them.
In addition, the other competitive advantage of the organization’s services is being culturally oriented, that means it will be addressing the concerns of clients who are sensitive to the loss of culture. Furthermore, it will be targeting clients interested in tasting the meals and the experiences of other cultures. This means, it will be operating in a blue ocean market, which is generally untapped by the existing competitors. This means that before other competitors start offering products targeting culturally sensitive clients, the organization would have broken even and would be expanding to other regions or would diverse the product portfolio.
Furthermore, the organization has a competitive advantage because it has created a supply chain with different cultural communities, who can source for the foods and species from different locations where there are easily found. By building a community of suppliers from different locals, it means the travellers who visit the country can carry the ingredient such as species, which adds competitive advantage to the organization because the raw materials would be available promptly.
In addition, the organization has capable management, importantly, one of the reasons why the business was initiated was business I am interested in cooking; furthermore, I have also trained in some aspects of hospitality management including leadership. Therefore, as the business proprietor, I will use my skills to run the business professionally and ensure that it moves from the initiation stage through infancy stage.
Moreover, the organization would engage in ethical business practices, that means it will adhere to the laws and regulations governing employment, comply with the environmental conservation issues. The business will endeavor to provide a suitable eating environment that is socially, culturally confortable. That means the safety standards for toys in the restaurant and for food should be higher than the established standards. Importantly, the organization is obligated to ensure confidential information for clients such as payment details, names, preferences, and other personally identifying information that may be captured during home deliveries is not shared. The ethical business practices will help the organization penetrate the market easily.
Statement of Ethics
The organization will adhere to the highest ethical standards in terms of environmental conservation. Essentially, the statement of ethics is categorized themes that include the obligation to employees. The organization respects all employees regardless of their level of disability, culture, race gender or age. As such, all employees will be compensated fairly based on fair labor practices. The organization will ensure a suitable work environment for all employees to ensure safety and comfort of employees, which is necessary in ensuring high productivity. Importantly, all employees will be encouraged to report incidents of misconduct including sexual harassment from their peers or seniors, cases of physical abuse or unfair assignment of duties to the management without fear of retaliation. Furthermore, the organization will ensure fair recruitment and promotion of employees and fair dismissal from duty in case of misconduct.
The business values unity of purpose, as such all employees are ethically obligated to work in the best interest of the organization and not personal interests or personal gain. That means all employees should operate independently with integrity and adhere to all relevant laws and regulations Suppliers of products would be treated fairly. In relation to organization’s assets, it is the duty of each employee to take care of organization’s assets while on duty. Intellectual property including the recipes, the customized information systems and other proprietary information should be protected from unwanted access. In situations of conflicts of interests, the employees or suppliers are required to share their concerns with the organization’s compliance office. In relation to helping communities, it is the ethical obligation of the business to give back to the society by supporting various relevant projects. The choice of the projects will depend on the community needs. However, the organization will give back to the community through financial assistance to the needy or in support of ventures that enhance the wellbeing of communities. Furthermore, employees are also encouraged to donate their financial assistance or ma hours in a structured way to support the identified communities. However, all support must comply with the state laws and other relevant regulations.
The ethical standards are aimed at helping the organizing promote trust and integrity among the employees and other stakeholders (Schroeder, 2019). Furthermore, the ethical standards will drive employee behavior and other groups that would engage with the organization. Importantly, the ethical standards will help the organization attain the bottom line because ethical practice helps organizations improve profitability (Schroeder, 2019). The code of ethics will be signed by all employees.
Statement of Social Responsibility
As a new entrant in the hospitality sector, and due to its unique business model where it positions itself as offering customized foods that suit the tastes and cultures of clients. The organization will support educational programs for learners interested in learning to prepare cultural foods. The corporate social responsibility is in line with the organization’s mission of being a leader in making customized foods. The trained students can then be absorbed by the organization as it expands in other cities and states. In this case, the organization will help the community by supporting educational programs relevant to the nature of business operations. In addition, because of operating in the hospitality industry, the organization will help children in different communities’ access balanced diet on daily basis. Whereas the organization will not be buying food for the families of children, it will educate parents on the types of food that they should give to their children in order to get balanced diet. Furthermore, the organization will encourage communities to plant community gardens with fast growing fruits and vegetables, which will increase access to balanced diet. In addition, the organization will also support communities in advancing basic education by buying books for children and offering transport to children from poor families. Supporting basic education has a ripple effect to all sectors of the economy and the social welfare because through the good educational foundation, the children will be able to develop into scholars that benefit the society in various ways.
In addition, the organization is in cognizance of the environmental effects on unsustainable actions. As such, it will help communities in conserving the environment by encouraging recycling of wastes, reduction of wastes and reuse of wastes. Furthermore, the organization will encourage suppliers of various food items to engage in green and cleaner production by using renewable sources of energy, encouraging organic farming, which have lower environmental effects. Importantly, the organization will also support the government in reforestation efforts in order to curb the effects of climate change. Specifically, the organization will help in buying tree seedlings and support planting missions in the communities where it supports. For instance, the organization will commit part of its profits to plant half million seedlings each year. Engaging on environmental conservation will be beneficial to the brand image because it will be valued as an organization that considers the triple bottom line, which is planet, profits and people (Golob, et al., 2019). Importantly, engaging on social responsibility is part of giving back to society; it also helps in building the brand image among the communities, which is good for penetrating a market dominated by the other brands (Golob, et al., 2019). Furthermore, it is a way of encouraging environmental stewardship.
