ASSIGNMENT TASK:

• Task A: Critically evaluate two possible future strategies for Turkish Airlines (50%).
• Task B: Identify and recommend with a clear justification ONE preferred strategy for Turkish Airlines that you feel they should adopt in the future (50%).
  
   

TASK GUIDANCE:

• Taking into consideration the internal and external environment and the success of their current strategy, you should outline and evaluate the options for a future strategy that would best suit Turkish Airlines.
• You should then make your recommendations as to which future strategy the airline should follow from the options identified.
• Highlight relevant factors using gap analysis to show and justify how you have come to your conclusion.
  
   

MARKING CRITERIA:

• Task A – 50%
  • Using research from CW1 and additional research, consider growth opportunities for Turkish Airlines by reviewing its portfolio of products and services using BCG matrix to decide where to invest, discontinue or develop – 15%
  • Identify the top 2 potential future strategy outcomes using the TOWS model – 20%
  • Use the Ansoff Growth Strategy model to explain and evaluate each above strategy in terms of whether the airline should expand in new or continue in existing markets with new or existing products – 15%
• Task B – 50%
  • Choose 1 of the above strategy options best suited for Turkish Airlines and provide justification using the gap analysis steps below. Highlight one specific problem area which would be addressed by proposed strategy. 10%
  • Define the goals the airline want to achieve using the proposed new strategy. 10%
  • Outline the current state of the airline as a result of highlighted specific problem. 10%
  • Determine the desired state and its parameters for the airline. 10%
  • Identify the gaps between the two states and come up with recommendations to close them. 10%
