Kencana Saputra Sdn Bhd is a family owned company involving the real estate industry and construction. The company is located at Ipoh, Perak where it presently employs 150 full time workers.

 

    Every month, the timekeeper forwards the time cards to payroll department in order to calculate all the wages for employees. Syima calculates the amount of wages after checking the pay rates and tax information for each employee from the file. Then, she updates the employee records as well, to ensure all the information is accurate.

 

    After all the process done, Syima prepares the pay cheques and two copies of payroll register. A copy of payroll register is forwarded to account payable (AP) department while the pay cheques are signed and distributed to the respective employees. The remaining copy of payroll register is filed within the department.

 

    At AP department, the use of payroll register is to calculate a cash disbursement voucher. Then, both documents are sent to the cash disbursement department.

 

    The cash disbursement clerk, Lizzy prepares the cheque. The cheques amounting to all wages are then signed by her and sent to the bank. After receiving the payment voucher from the bank, Lizzy updates the transaction to the general ledger. All vouchers and payroll register are then filed in the department.
