For years, political representation in the Texas legislature has failed to represent the exact demographic characteristics of the population. The empowerment of the minority groups in Texas is one of the best ways to achieve justice in representation across the Texas legislature. For instance, the LGBTQ and the people of color should be treated with justice to give them confidence and attempt political leadership. The state government should introduce the regulation that all nominated positions in the legislature be preserved for the minority, especially the Latino people who have little voice in the political competition (DeSipio., 2006).
To enhance diversity within the legislature, all bills should be drafted to support the voice of the minority groups such as the LGBTQI. Also, the house should pass a bill recognizing human rights organizations' existence for minority groups and people of color. Some of the instrumental groups and agencies to increase diversity include the State Bar of Texas, Office of the Minority Affairs, the LGBT Attorneys, Minority Attorneys at the Podium (MAP), and the Texas Minority Counsel Program (TMCP).
