What are the positive effects of raising minimum wage?

If the lowest pay permitted by law i.e minimum wages are increased by the federal government the businesses units will have to pay more to the employees as a result labor productivity increases since labors are getting paid higher than before which in turn affects their standard of living i.e their livelihood improves and one more advantage is that labor force bound to remain with a similar firm for a longer timeframe.
