Discuss the current level of federal budget deficit.

The current Federal budget deficit is absurdly high. It is currently $2.8 trillion for 2020 while real GDP was $17.28 in the second quarter of 2020. Compare this to a $984 budget deficit in 2019 and $779 in 2018. The Federal budget deficit has been on an upward trajectory for quite some time with obvious cyclical fluctuations. The only time this trend was changed was in the 90's when government spending was limited and tax revenue increased with GDP growth.
