  • Open the file SC_PPT19_7b_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as SC_PPT19_7b_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:

  • With the file SC_PPT19_7b_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. As the program coordinator for The Dance Alliance in Chicago, you have developed a presentation showcasing the company's dance classes, recitals, and other activities over the past year. Begin by inserting a hyperlink from "Year in Review" on Slide 1 that goes to Slide 10 in the presentation.
  2. On Slide 2 ("What We Do"), edit the hyperlink on "dance recitals" so that it goes to Slide 8 ("Our Recitals").
  3. On Slide 3 ("Our Fantastic Executive"), edit the hyperlink on the pink heart so that it goes to Slide 4 in the presentation.
  4. On Slide 4 ("Our Classes"), use the Content placeholder to insert a new SmartArt diagram using the Diverging Radial layout in the Cycle category, and then add data as follows:
    1. Show the SmartArt Text Pane, if it is not displayed.
    2. Enter text in the SmartArt Text Pane as shown in Figure 1.

  6. With Slide 4 ("Our Classes") still displaying, continue to build and format the SmartArt diagram:
    1. Move "Ballroom" above "Contemporary".
    2. Add Jazz as a bullet under "Hip Hop".
    3. Apply the Inset SmartArt 3D SmartArt Style.
    4. Change the SmartArt colors to Colored Fill—Accent 2.
    5. Change the height of the SmartArt diagram to 4.8".
  7. On Slide 5 ("Ballet Classes"), use the Content placeholder to insert the video file Support_PPT19_7b_BalletDancers.mp4 and then modify the video as follows:
    1. Apply the Bevel Rectangle Video Style.
    2. Change the video Volume to Medium.
    3. Select the option to rewind the video after playing it.
  8. On Slide 6 ("Contemporary Dance Classes"), make the blue rounded rectangle a hyperlink to the file Support_PPT19_7b_Classes.docx.
  9. With Slide 6 ("Contemporary Dance Classes") still displaying, edit the hyperlink to add Click to open the contemporary dance schedule. as the ScreenTip.
  10. On Slide 7 ("Ballroom Dance Classes"), reset the picture to its original settings.
  11. On Slide 8 ("Our Recitals"), format the SmartArt diagram as follows:
    1. Add two new shapes to the SmartArt.
    2. Insert the picture file Support_PPT19_7b_Ballet.jpg into the first new shape.
    3. Insert the picture file Support_PPT19_7b_Contemporary.jpg into the second new shape.
    4. Show the SmartArt Text Pane, if it is not displayed.
    5. Add the caption Ballroom to the left shape, Ballet to the right shape, and Contemporary to the bottom shape.
    6. Close the SmartArt Text Pane.
  12. With Slide 8 ("Our Recitals") still displaying, insert the audio clip file Support_PPT19_7b_Salsa.mp3, and then modify it as follows:
    1. Position the audio clip in the blue rectangle at the bottom right corner of the slide so that it is even with the Date and footer placeholders.
    2. Trim the audio clip so that it stops at 00:11.000.
    3. Change the audio clip Start option to Automatically.
    4. Select the Play Across Slides audio option.
    5. Rewind the audio clip after playing.
    6. Loop the audio clip until stopped.
    7. Change the audio Volume to Low.
    8. Hide the audio clip object during the slide show.
  13. On Slide 9 ("Specialty Classes"), change the picture to Support_PPT19_7b_Flamenco.jpg, and enhance the picture as follows:
    1. Resize the picture so that its height is exactly 4.5".
    2. Position the picture so that its right edge is approximately even with the horizontal line under the title and the top edge is approximately even with the first bulleted item.
    3. Change the brightness and contrast of the picture to Brightness: 0% (Normal) Contrast: -40%.
    4. Change the Color Saturation of the picture to 400%.
    5. Flip the picture Horizontally.
  14. With Slide 9 ("Specialty Classes") still displaying, remove the hyperlink from "examinations".
  15. On Slide 10 ("Another Great Year!"), insert the video file Support_PPT19_7b_Dancing.mp4 without using a Content placeholder, and then modify the video as follows:
    1. Resize the video proportionally so that its height is 4.5".
    2. Position the video so that its left edge is even with the "A" in "Another" in the slide title.
    3. Trim the video so that it stops at 00:03.000.
    4. Add a video poster frame using the file Support_PPT19_7b_DanceClass.jpg.
    5. Start the video when it is clicked on.
    6. Select the option to play the video full screen.
  16. With Slide 10 ("Another Great Year!") still displaying, make the pink happy face hyperlinked so that returns to Slide 1 of the presentation.
  17. In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
