• GETTING STARTED

• Open the file SC_PPT19_EOM5-1_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
• Save the file as SC_PPT19_EOM5-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
  • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
• With the file SC_PPT19_EOM5-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
  • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

• PROJECT STEPS

1. You work in the Economic Development Department at the Municipality of Waring Lake, a beautiful, lake country community in northern Minnesota. You've created a presentation for local businesses to inform them about the activities of your department and upcoming events sponsored by the municipality.
   Begin by resizing all the slides in the presentation to Widescreen.
2. Switch to Slide Sorter view and add a section between Slides 1 and 2 of the presentation. Rename the new section Department Activities. Change the name of the section called "Untitled Section" to Events. Collapse all the sections. Change the order of the sections as follows: Default Section, Department Activities, Other Departments, and Events. Expand all the sections and return to Normal view.
3. Display the Comments pane, then modify comments in the presentation. On the title slide, insert a comment with the text So beautiful! On Slide 2 ("Mandate of the Economic Development Department"), add economic as directed by the first comment and then reply to the comment with the text Good idea! Edit the second comment on the slide by replacing "business" with networking. Delete the comment on Slide 4 ("Economic Development Strategy"). Close the Comments pane.
4. On Slide 3 ("Economic Development Teams"), change the line spacing of the bullet points in both the "Integration and Research" box and the "Regional Initiatives" box to 1.5.
5. On Slide 4 ("Economic Development Strategy"), change the list numbering style to A. B. C. (Row 2, Column 2). [Mac Hint - Row 1, Column 4.] Apply the Metal Oval picture style to the rectangle shape. Add the alt text in the description box, so the text: Cool graphic for economic development is included.
6. On Slide 5 ("Other Municipal Departments"), format the bulleted text in two columns. Change the spacing between the two columns to 0.6". Change the bullet to the arrow bullet symbol for all bullets. Set the size of the bullet to 110% of text. Change the color of the bullet symbol to Red, Accent 6.
7. Find the text "enterprises" in the presentation and type businesses to replace it.
8. On Slide 6 ("Economic Development Events at Municipal Hall"), dim the animation applied to every element in the SmartArt diagram by changing the After animation setting to blue. Delay the animation for the SmartArt diagram so that it starts 1 second after the animation of the slide title "Economic Development Events at Municipal Hall."

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
