If you're writing a novel and want to publish it. You meet with a few people who work in the publishing field and tell them about your story and ask for advice. You never follow through with actually publishing the book. Three years later, you see a trailer for a movie that sounds very similar to the plotline of your novel. You then find out that the screenplay was written by one of the people you consulted with years earlier. You think that person stole the idea from you.
a. Describe any intellectual property right you have in this situation. If you sued based on those rights, what type of remedy might you be entitled to?
b. Identify any obstacles you might have to winning your case. Do you think these obstacles will be fatal to your case, or just a bump in the road? Why?
