THE WOMAN IN THE PAINTING
Elena drew the curtains as she stole a glance at the distance horizon. She imagine seeing a ghostly figure coming the direction. She was only five, and she could not comprehend the rumours of the war that were going round in the village. As she stood by the window pane admiring a flock of kites that was flying near her homestead, Elena was draw in the distance past, she recalled vaguely as her parents discussed their relocation the middle East. She had heard people gossiping that a Hitler was exterminating Jews from the face of Europe. Was this the war that her parents had so much feared would happen?
Was it true that Hitler didn't love Jewish children?
But she was a beautiful Jewish child. What could any person of a sane mind have against her?
What she didn't understand is that Hitler was not of a sane mind, and neither did he care about her looks. He was a beast to be feared by all.
Hardly had she shifted her eyes from the window pane, when she saw a bigger kite. of a size that she had never seen before. She gave out her warm childish smile, but before she could outstretch her arms to reach out on the kite, she felt a loud thunder that made her eardrums ache as they protested in a painful exhaustion. Stealing two quick glances on the other hand, she saw her father in a pool of blood, and her mother, trying to reach out on her, with her left leg broken. She gave her a sad smile, but this time round, it didn't work the miracles it has always done. She passed out. The last thing she remembered, was a strong arm grabbing her by the waist, as she was being hulled out of the space she had called home, since she was born.
When she came to, she found herself in a new home. Her parents were nowhere to be seen. She saw a broad handsome face wearing a religious cap, and she recognized it as the face of the man that had grabbed her out of her burning household. "Where is mummy and papii?" she asked in her ever jovial voice. But as if she were already guessing the eventuality of her paternity, a slight tremor in her voice betrayed her. She saw everybody facing their heads down, as if ti supplicate. The man who had picked her eventually informed her that papii and mummy had gone to be with the Lord. She later came to learn that the man was called Duron, her guardian angel.
Elena grew under the tutelage of the old woman Sarya. She enjoyed fetching firewood with her by the nearest forest. As the years had burgeoned, Elena grew to love the company of her care giver. She was now ten years old, and the big war had ended. She had grow off the thoughts of what happened back then and since she was a young girl back then, she was not traumatized. She was enrolled in a nearby school and she loved the sight of school children playing by the lown at school. She sat her IGCSE exam and joined junior secondary. And then the worst thing happened.
There was an influx of students from Germany into her school. The kids, who had blue eyes, claimed to be the most superior race in the world. As if that was not all, they started spreading a movement in the school called nazi, claiming that Jews had no space in Europe. Elena retreated back to her class and every moment she went home, she informed her caregiver what was happening at school.
One fine morning, she saw some kites flying above her school. similar to the ones she had seen when she was a kid, only that these ones were more advanced. She was currently eighteen years old. She reminisced with nostalgia, of the long begone days, when she lost her parents. It was the beginning of yet another war. Could she survive this time round? She wished to dies faster so as not to witness another gastric loss of a loved one.

There is a style commonly referred to as first person narration. In this techniques, the narrator of the tale is usually a character in the same story. The story is told from the perspective of first person pronoun "I'.
This techniques is closely followed by objective narration. This is a type of narration that is found in plays. Here, every character speaks on their own behalf and there isn't anyone telling us anything about another.
The most prevalent form of narration however, is the third person narration. This narrator is usually referred to as omniscient narrator. He is so called because he seems to know everything in the text. He takes us through the consistency of the text on a step by step basis. The narrator in this narration employs vivid description and authorial intrusion as his tools of communication.
