There are many areas of computer science. Computer science spans a range of topics from theoretical studies of algorithms and the limits of computation to the practical issues including computing systems in software and hardware. Computing Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB) is made up of representatives of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The IEEE Computer Society [IEEE-CS) identifies for areas that it considers crucial to the discipline of computer science. Those four areas include: Programming Methodology and Languages, Theory of Computation, Computer Elements and Architecture, and Algorithms and Data Structures. Computing Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB) identi?es other fields such as computer networking and communication, database systems, artificial intelligence, and computer-human interaction. CSAB also identifies fields such as operaiing systems, parallel computation, computer graphics, software engineering, distributed computation, and numerical and symbolic computation as being important areas of computer science.
